Video: Part II | Japanese words | Hiragana | Na-adjectives

 

For today’s blog, our topic is the Part II of Na-adjectives. As I’ve mentioned before, there are two types of adjectives in Japanese, the i-adjective and the na-adjective. I will be posting the link to the i-adjectives at the end of this blog. For Part I of the na-adjective, you can check the link:

Here are the 10 na-adjectives:

にぎやかな – Lively, Busy, Bustling

Kanji: 賑やかな      
Romaji: Nigiyakana


Example:

とうきょうはとてもにぎやかなまちです。
(東京はとても賑やかな街です。)
(Toukyou ha totemo nigiyakana machi desu.)
Tokyo is a very busy city.

しんせつな – Kind

Kanji: 親切な
Romaji: Shinsetsuna


Example:

アンナさんのしんせつにかんしゃします。
(アンナさんの親切に感謝します。)
(Anna-san no shinsetsu ni kansha shimasu. )
I am grateful for Ms. Anna’s kindness.

かんたんな – Easy, Simple

                                         
Kanji: 簡単な                
Romaji: Kantanna        


Example:

それはかんたんなゲームです。
(それは簡単なゲームです。)
(Sore ha kantanna ge-mu desu.)
That’s an easy game.

ひまな – Free time, break

Kanji: 暇な              
Romaji: Himana


Example:

ひまなときなにをしますか。
(暇な時何をしますか。)
(Himana toki nani wo shimasu ka.)
What do you do in your free time?

ふくざつな – Complicated

Kanji: 複雑な                
Romaji: Fukuzatsuna      

Example:

トニーとわたしはふくざつなかんけいです。
(トニーと私は複雑な関係です。)
(Toni- to watashi ha fukuzatsuna kankei desu.)
I have a complicated relationship with Tony.

しんせんな – Fresh

Kanji: 新鮮な                
Romaji: Shinsenna


Example:

しんせんなくうきがほしいだけです。
(新鮮な空気が欲しいだけです。)
(Shinsenna kuuki ga hoshii dake desu.)
I just want some fresh air.

あんぜんな – Safe

Kanji: 安全な                
Romaji: Anzenna


Example:         

わたしがのぞむのはあんぜんなばしょだけです。
(私が望むのは安全な場所だけです。)
(Watashi ga nozomu no ha anzenna basho dake desu.)
All I want is a safe place.

へんな – Strange, weird, odd

Kanji: 変な              
Romaji: Henna


Example:

なんてへんなひと。
(なんて変な人。)
(Nante henna hito.)
What a weird person.

だいじょうぶな – All right, no problem

Kanji: 大丈夫な            
Romaji: Daijoubuna


Example:

わたしはだいじょうぶではありません。
(私は大丈夫ではありません。)
(Watashi ha daijoubu deha arimasen.)
I am not okay.

じょうぶな – Strong, durable, sturdy

Kanji: 丈夫な  
Romaji: Joubuna         

Example:

いすはじょうぶなもくざいでできています。
(椅子は丈夫な木材で出来ています。)
(Isu ha joubuna mokuzai de dekiteimasu.)
The chair is made of durable wood.
